Hoot Owl

Saturday 25 May 2013
2000 - 2359 Local Time !

The Hoot Owl Sprint is a unique QRP ARCI contest because it is held on Saturday night at 8 pm in your “local” time zone and not UTC.

This is also one of the QRP ARCI contests that rewards bonus points for going out into the field to operate portable. And being only 4 hours long this contest is a very good way for you to check out your portable gear for the summer season if you haven`t been out portable over the winter.

Contest rules: Hoot Owl Sprint 2013

The results of the 2013 Grid Square Sprint are now available - here

The 2013 QRP ARCI Grid Square Sprint is now history and had an increased participation level from 2012.

Two of the A1 winners even braved the elements to reap the rewards of going portable! In the AB A1 category Jim Wilson, VE3KQN, took first place operating portable with just 800mW. Gene Warren, N5GW, also in the A1 category and also portable, took the top spot on 20 metres running 5W. On 40m Garry Nichols, WA1GWH, stayed inside to capture the top spot on 40m with 4.5 Watts.

In the A2 category, and no doubt much warmer, Bernhard Doctor, K8AR, took the top AB spot with 4 Watts while Allan Richardson, NR1X, took the 20m spot.

Congratulations to all !
