The QRP-F forum has been around for a few years and was, at one time, the only alternative to the QRP-L email reflector for discussions about QRP. In recent years dozens of groups, lists, blogs and websites have appeared.
Traffic on QRP-F reduced to such an extent (one post per month) that it was clear the needs of the QRP community were catered for very well elsewhere. The time and effort taken to remove spam could not be justified and the software in use was long overdue for an upgrade.
The forum has now been shutdown. The QRP ARCI website login form has also been removed as it was only required for posting new messages on the forum.
This change has cleared the path for the new QRP ARCI website and a new 'members only' login facility where you will be able to change callsigns, names, addresses and subscribe to QRP Quarterly. The ability to maintain membership details online will provide improved service for members and will reduce the workload of the volunteers who process the transactions and maintain the membership database.

Russ Ruby W7AU (QRP ARCI #13127) was rescued after breaking his leg in the Cascade Mountains, WA. Russ slipped and was injured near Buck Creek Pass on 21 September 2008. He had the presence of mind to set up his tent and change into warm clothing before calling for help on 40m CW using his Elecraft K1 transceiver. His signal was heard 600 miles away in Bozeman, Montana by Bob Williams N7ODM. Details were passed to local authorities but Russ had to spend the night in the wilderness before being evacuated from the site at 10.30am the following day.

A new website to learn and practice Morse telegraphy has been launched - Learn CW OnlineThere are already hundreds of training programs, MP3/CD courses and practice aids available, but LCWO follows a radically different concept: While sticking to well-proven methods for learning and practice, all you need for using LCWO is a web browser! This gives the user the liberty to practice CW wherever an internet connection is available, always retaining the personal settings, scores and statistics. |

It all started in May of 2007. It was Sunday about noon and FDIM 2007 was about over. We sat down and discussed FDIM 2008. Some of us took about 4 months off, others were busy finding presenters, confirming the hotel requirements and rounding up volunteers. Then close to the end of the year the whole crew went into action. We built an improved registration system for both vendors and participants, rounded up door prizes, finalized logistics and interfaced with the hotel for reservations . . .
