QRP ARCI at the Rochdale QRP Convention
Stan AC8W, Dick G0BPS, Ken W4DU and Hank K8DD on the QRP ARCI stand.On October 7th 2006 the G-QRP club hosted the annual QRP Convention at Rochdale in north-west England. It is estimated that there were 250 - 300 attendees. QRP ARCI had a stand manned by Stan AC8W, Dick G0BPS, Ken W4DU, Hank K8DD and Steve G4GXL.

It was a truly international event with hams spotted from Denmark, Spain, France, Canada, USA, Sweden, Australia, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

A raffle seems to be mandatory at all QRP gatherings and Rochdale is no exception. George Dobbs G3RJV is seen here making the draw for the winner of a 1 year subscription to our own QRP Quarterly magazine. This was just one of many prizes.

Ken W4DU and Hank K8DDThe highlight of the convention (for this webmaster at any rate) was the lecture given by Paul Harden NA5N. A very enthusiastic audience were entertained with an informative yet accessible introduction to HF Propagation and the influence of Solar Activity.

QRP ARCI Quality Recognition AwardPerhaps the biggest surprise of the day was the award presented to Steve G4GXL by club president Dick Pascoe G0BPS on behalf of the QRP ARCI BoD. The QRP ARCI Quality Recognition Award was in appreciation of the effort put in to the building of the website over the past 3 years,
