Technical Web Site is a real hit with QRPers |
If you haven't come across it, you'll want to check the website of Phil Salas, AD5X. It's www.ad5x.com of course. Phil's site is frankly not much to look at until you dig deeper! In case you are not aware, Phil (ARCI# 7497) was recently awarded the 2005 Bill Orr, W6SAI, Technical Writing Award. That's because he has had numerous articles in QST over the past few years. When asked about his articles, most folks say that they like'm because they actually feel like they could duplicate what Phil has developed!
Now many of these articles, if not all, are on the website along with many other items of great interest to QRPers and others who like to tinker. Here are some direct links to a few of my favorites: Build your own air-wound coils and coil supports (Revised 10/3/05) IC-703 Side-Mounted battery pack - Self-contained IC-703 (Revised 6/21/05) Elecraft balun modifications - Make it a 1:1/4:1 switchable unit Simple In-line Current/Voltage Monitoring Fixture - Get rid of your rat's nest of wiring (Revised 1/21/06) This one is shown at right. Now doesn't this look like something you could do? Anyway, check out all of his many articles at www.ad5x.com and thanks Phil for your contributions to our fun! |
