At FDIM 2009 Dick Pascoe G0BPS announced his intention to step down as QRP ARCI President on 1 July 2009. He is succeeded by Ken Evans W4DU who has served as Vice-President for several years. Kathy Bromley WQ5T (a familiar face at FDIM) has joined the management team as Vice-President.
Here is an edited version of Ken's From The President column - the full version will appear in the upcoming Summer 2009 issue of QRP Quarterly -
"There is an old saying that all good things must come to an end. So it is with the tenure of Dick Pascoe, G0BPS as president of QRP ARCI. It has been my privilege to serve as the club vice president with Dick over the past five years. These past years have seen the club's active membership move from 1800 to approximately 2400. We have built very close relationships with the
GQRP Club that helped provide assistance to hams in other countries. The QRP ARCI presence at ham fests has increased and as a result, more people are aware of and involved in QRP. FDIM has consistently improved each year and has become world renown as a premier QRP event. Over the next three years, I will endeavor as your president to continue to move the image of QRP as a
positive force in amateur radio. I offer my thanks to Dick for a job extremely well done. You will be missed.
When Dick informed me that the board of directors had elected me to the presidency (effective July 1,2009), he also told me that they wanted a recommendation from me as to whom I
would recommend to serve as vice president. I am pleased to inform you that the board elected Kathy Bromley, WQ5T to serve as your vice president for the next three years. Kathy lives in Ft Smith, AR with husband Jay, W5JAY. She holds an extra class license and has worked a bit of DX on twenty meters. Kathy is a tireless worker that has helped immensely with the past three
FDIM events. She brings excellent administrative skills to the office that will be used to help with budgetary, financial and organizational issues as we move the club forward. She will be a great deal of help to me and an asset to the club over the next three years."

The QRP-F forum has been around for a few years and was, at one time, the only alternative to the QRP-L email reflector for discussions about QRP. In recent years dozens of groups, lists, blogs and websites have appeared.
Traffic on QRP-F reduced to such an extent (one post per month) that it was clear the needs of the QRP community were catered for very well elsewhere. The time and effort taken to remove spam could not be justified and the software in use was long overdue for an upgrade.
The forum has now been shutdown. The QRP ARCI website login form has also been removed as it was only required for posting new messages on the forum.
This change has cleared the path for the new QRP ARCI website and a new 'members only' login facility where you will be able to change callsigns, names, addresses and subscribe to QRP Quarterly. The ability to maintain membership details online will provide improved service for members and will reduce the workload of the volunteers who process the transactions and maintain the membership database.
